Araceli Jacobs, Esquire
Araceli Jacobs joined Brustein & Manasevit, PLLC as an associate in June 2019. Her current practice focuses on representing public charter schools in the District of Columbia on issues related to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Ms. Jacobs assists clients with federal grants management compliance and various education programs including the IDEA and the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Jacobs worked for District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) on policy and compliance matters. While at DCPS, Ms. Jacobs completed The Broad Residency, a two-year education management leadership program. Prior to joining DCPS, Ms. Jacobs served as a legal policy analyst for the Supreme Court of Georgia Committee on Justice for Children where she managed a federal grant designed to improve legal representation for children in the child welfare system. During law school, Ms. Jacobs worked for District of Columbia Counsel for Child Abuse and Neglect on child welfare policies. She also worked as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Judge Gregory Jackson at District of Columbia Superior Court. Prior to law school, Ms. Jacobs worked as a special education teacher specializing in inclusion for Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
Ms. Jacobs received her Bachelor's Degree in International Relations and Journalism from Syracuse University in 2006 and received her Juris Doctorate from American University, Washington College of Law in 2010. Ms. Jacobs is admitted to practice law in the State of Georgia and is eligible by waiver into the District of Columbia Bar. Ms. Jacobs is not currently admitted to the D.C. Bar but is supervised by licensed D.C. bar members.
