1:00 – 4:30

Savannah, GA

Reception to follow

The NACTEI Pre-Conference will include two concurrent sessions on Perkins CTE implementation.  One will be conducted by Steve Spillan for those relatively new to the CTE universe and it is entitled “Introduction to the Perkins Trifecta, A Tutorial on the Perkins Statute, the General Education Provisions Act, and the Education Department General Administrative Regulations.”  It will cover the basics of the Perkins statute, a walk-through of the GEPA provisions on confidentiality of student records and privacy, as well as a discussion of the changes in the new EDGAR.

The second concurrent session will be conducted by Michael Brustein on “Common Perkins Violations,” and will be geared as a more advance training session.  It will cover time and effort certifications, unlawful supplanting, transportation and meal costs, blending and braiding of Perkins and WIOA funds, use of administrative and indirect costs, non-compliant local applications, and new rules on equipment/supplies.

Both sessions will run from 1:00 to 4:30 on May 9 at the Savannah Marriott.  Steve and Michael will then host a cocktail reception from 4:30 to 5:30 PM, and attendees will have an opportunity to have their questions answered.

All attendees will receive a copy of the new EDGAR being released in December 2015.  The cost to attend either pre-session is $250.
