Michael Bender joined Brustein & Manasevit, PLLC in April 2013. Mr. Bender assists clients with federal grants management and various federal education programs, including the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act, the Workforce Investment Act and the Higher Education Act.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bender worked as a policy analyst with the Maryland Department of Legislative Services in Annapolis, Maryland. During law school, Mr. Bender interned with the San Diego Unified School District, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, the Juvenile Court of the San Diego Superior Court, the Children’s Advocacy Institute, and the University of San Diego’s Special Education Clinic. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Bender taught English to children in the Republic of Korea and was employed as an audit associate by KPMG, LLP in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Bender graduated from the University of Richmond with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting in May 2004 and received his J.D. from the University of San Diego in May 2010. Mr. Bender is a member of the bars of Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
